Trevor Bayliss says England work hard on Test-match batting — but need help from pitches

Outgoing coach Trevor Bayliss insists England are currently working in their batting that is Test-match — but need assistance from pitches in cricket.
England have thrived from the arena that was white-ball beneath Bayliss, culminating in the World Cup triumph in July if a triumph inspired over New Zealand at Lord’s.
But , Ireland and Australia has have sometimes stuttered in Test cricket and skittled for 67 and 85 them respectively.
Ahead of his final match as coach, Bayliss — whose side will probably be looking to make a 2-2 series draw using Australia — educated Sky Sports’ Rob Key:»I do not think there’s a doubt that the design of players we’ve got is suited to the one-day game.
«Some of these techniques are affected by the one-day game but they are all very gifted batters. They are working.
«All the things I hear folks speaking about — tender hands, playing afterwards below your eyes — have been worked and spoken about since I’ve been here and probably before.
«If we can play on flatter wickets it provides batters the opportunity to bat for more in those states and place those techniques into play in a match situation.
«It is all well and good doing it in the nets but under pressure outside in the centre a lot of instances you revert to what is natural.
«In one-off series you maybe want green grass so that it goes more for the whole innings, but in the long run the very best thing to do is perform on these wickets as much as possible in the amount below so that we can bat longer and get more constant performances.
«Concentrate for more in the area, concentrate for longer if you’re bat. Spinners will come more in the game and also the speed bowlers will learn how to adjust whenever there is not any hardness or glow on the ball.»
Bayliss coached England into an Ashes success in his first show in charge in 2015, plus notable Test series falls in South Africa and Sri Lanka, but says that the World Cup title»was the cherry on the top».
The victory, England in a global 50-over championship, capped a four-year interval where they moved from being chucked to # 1 at the positions from their World Cup in the group stage.
«From the one-day match we took the reins off [the players] and said’go outside and express yourself, see just how good you are’, knowing full well they were going to drop over and have bad matches,» said Bayliss, that formed a successful axis with captain Eoin Morgan.
«You know from the mistakes you make and I’d love to consider, within a period of time, that when they had been knocked over gradually they began to work out it. The proof was not just the World Cup triumph but the manner in that we did it.
«We’ve played very flat wickets for the last four decades but we got to a World Cup final on wickets with a little within them. We were able to adapt, and that’s exactly what we had been about the time. We researched the ceiling and then, through experience, pulled it when we had to.
«We went through a period in the middle of this World Cup where it did not move because we needed but we stuck to our guns and as soon as the heat was — needing to win four in a row from four of the top teams at the competition — we were able to perform it.
«This was the cherry on the top. To see the delight on the gamers’ faces, the other trainers’ and management, and the cricket lovers in general. It’s something I won’t forget for a long time.»
Bayliss also spoke about why he gets on so well with Stokes, whose nice summer comprised a match-winning unbeaten 135 at the third Ashes Test at Headingley last month.
«He had a confidence about him,» added Bayliss.
«He clearly had a good deal of skill but how he went on his practice, you just knew he wasn’t likely to take a next step in any kind of contest, whether batting, bowling or at the area.
«He wasn’t scared to express his perspectives, even at times when he believed I was incorrect.»
On Stokes missing a huge chunk of cricket following the Bristol episode in September 2017, such as the previous off Ashes show, Bayliss included:»I attempted to maintain a pretty philosophical view on it, strove to panic as small as you can.
«From it, I think we’ve seen Ben, and a lot of the other guys, grow and mature as human beings. They are good people and that’s exactly what you need to view.»
