Manchester City defender Aymeric Laporte has undergone knee operation that was successful after being stretchered away on Saturday in their win over Brighton.
The Frenchman, 25, went down at the Etihad Stadium from Brighton centre-back Adam Webster at the minute of this game.
A team statement released by City states:»Aymeric Laporte has undergone surgery on his knee after damaging his own ribs and lateral meniscus.
«The operation, completed by physician Ramon Cugat at Barcelona, was successful and a more comprehensive prognosis is going to be provided in due course.»
John Stones has missed the last two games with a thigh injury, leaving only Nicolas Otamendi because their sole fully-fit centre-back, Following Vincent Kompany left in the summer.
Uncapped Laporte was selected for Didier Deschamps’ France squad.
No time-frame has been placed on Laporte’s recovery.
