The Interior Ministry has confirmed that 16 arrests have been created with the racist abuse directed by England’s players on Monday.
The European Qualifier was stopped as a result of racist chanting from house supporters as Gareth Southgate and his players considered walking off the pitch throughout the 6-0 triumph in Sofia.
On Wednesday, the Bulgarian Interior Ministry said six people had been detained by them — and work was ongoing to determine participants.
UEFA has begun disciplinary actions against Bulgaria at the Vasil Levski National Stadium at the aftermath of the struggle.
Meanwhile, the FIFA say that they are»closely monitoring» the Bulgarian Football Union (BFU) after the resignation of its president, following the events on Monday.
Bulgaria’s captain Ivelin Popov said that he was»embarrassed» by what occurred, while their trainer Krasimir Balakov apologised to the England team to its racist taunts, after the match.
Gareth Southgate maintained that he was»proud» of his own staff and players for the manner in which they conducted themselves throughout the European Qualifier, amid the difficult conditions.
