The stretch is streaking down and setting daylight between themselves and the second-place Cleveland Indians as the season winds down. On the reverse side, the Red Sox have won six of the previous nine contests but their pitching woes and early season battles make it possible that the World Series champs are going to be on the outside. Boston rallied to cut the margin to one run last night but it was not enough as their guests from Minnesota prevailed via a 6-5 victory.
Boston will attempt to avenge last night’s setback by handing the ball into Eduardo Rodriguez (16-5, 3.97 ERA, 1.36 WHIP) who’ll look to expand his personal winning streak to four games after pitching five innings of all three-run, nine-hit chunk, against the Rockies, in a 7-4 victory a week ago. By blanking the Orioles and Padres over a joint 14 and innings of work, the veteran southpaw sparkled.
The Twins have recorded seven victories since their existing road trip began back on August 27th when they defeated the White Sox 3-1 at Rate Field and possess the league’s best album. With every beating a home run to hold on to a triumph at Fenway on Tuesday night, Nelson Cruz and Miguel Sano supplied the firepower.
Right-hander Jose Berrios (11-7, 3.57 ERA, 1.22 WHIP) can do the pitches for the Twins tonight after ditching a strong six innings where he allowed three runs on seven hits in a 10-5 win over the White Sox last Thursday. It was a step in the right direction after the 25-year-old native of Puerto Rico was torched in his past two starts if he allowed 12 runs (eight earned) over 9??2/3rd’s innings of work against the Rangers and Tigers. Berrios has confronted this Boston lineup only if he hurled a gem, working eight innings where he allowed a run on five hits over eight full innings of work at a 2-0 loss back on June 17th in the home.
The MLB odds on this matchup tonight watch that the Red Sox favored as -130 favorites at most of the best sportsbooks. Despite Berrios’ struggles, it seems as though he’s shaken off the funk of a set of outings. The Twins have jeopardized the Yankees averaging almost six runs each game, and do nothing but winning over their road trip. I believe we are getting enormous value by adding Minnesota on Wednesday in our MLB selections night and really don’t see this much favors the Red Sox.
