The BYU Cougars (0-1) travel to Knoxville in Week 2 for a showdown with the Tennessee Volunteers (0-1). Kickoff is set for 7:00 PM EST on Saturday, September 7th at Neyland Stadium and the game will be televised on ESPN.
This past week, tennessee started as a home favorite. That point has to proceed after early gambling, since the Vols are listed at -3. The total for your match is currently sitting in 51 points.
BYU could not find a means to emerge victorious in the»Holy War» against Utah in Week 1 despite trailing by only a field goal at halftime. The Utes came out scoring three touchdowns, the second half to place the game.
BYU QB Zach Wilson could not find any consequences against a Utah defense, becoming chosen twice and throwing for only 208 yards — one has been returned for a touchdown.
RB Ty’Son Williams established BYU on the floor with a small bit of a flicker , rushing for 45 yards and a touchdown. Matt Bushman gave a solid effort, catching 6 balls for 62 yards. BYU offense couldn’t sustain any crime and was able to score 12 points on 300 total yards.
BYU did a fantastic job defensively holding the crime to just 3 points. But they started to give a little down the stretch, as Utes RB Zach Moss put on a show en route to some gigantic 187 yard, one touchdown performance.
Tennessee also fell to 0-1 on the year overall last weekend, losing a shocker to Georgia State despite being favored by 26 points.
The Vols jumped out to an early 14-7 lead at the first quarter as the Panthers rallied to regain the lead going into the 4th quarter but it was and then.
Tennessee QB Jarrett Guarantano had a fairly good match, heading 26/40 for 2 touchdowns and 311 yards.
He had a ton of help from wide receiver Jauan Jennings, that lit up the Georgia State secondary to 108 yards and a touchdown. Tennessee offense certainly looked good racking up almost 400 total yards and scoring three touchdowns.
Georgia State managed to pull off such a gigantic upset in Week 1 due to the Volunteers dreadful drama on defense. Tennessee gave up 350 total yards, and while not seeming to be significant led to five Panthers touchdowns.
Tennessee could not establish themselves. Georgia State had three separate Georgia State rushers to find the end zone.
I really don’t have a whole lot of confidence in both of these programs heading into Week two. I think that the Vols reduction against Georgia State was an exception rather than the rule.
I feel this was not an indictment of this Vols talent and a lack of preparation. That said Tennessee is the better team, playing at Neyland Stadium at time.
