The 2019 NBA All-Star Game has been the 68th edition of the exhibition basketball game played on February 17, 2019. This was the second time that the arrangement was not East/West. The game was held in the Spectrum Center in Charlotte, North Carolina, home of the Charlotte Hornets. Charlotte was announced as host May 24, 2017. This was the second time that Charlotte hosted the All-Star Game; the first time was in 1991, in the Hornets’ previous home stadium Charlotte Coliseum. The game was supposed to be played in Charlotte at 2017, but has been transferred to New Orleans because of controversy surrounding the Public Facilities Privacy & Security Act. The match was televised by TNT for the 17th straight year, also was also simulcast on TBS in some markets.
Both teams were coached from their conference. Mike Budenholzer, coach of the Milwaukee Bucks, was named as the head trainer for Team Giannis. Michael Malone, coach of the Denver Nuggets, was named as the head trainer for Team LeBron. It marks the first time because the 2008 NBA All-Star Game where the two trainers did not have a playoff berth throughout the previous season
On February 1, 2019, Commissioner Adam Silver called Dwyane Wade and Dirk Nowitzki as special team roster additions for the match, citing their gifts to the match. They have been selected in the final round of the 2019 All-Star Draft, making each roster include 13 players.
