NASCAR heads to Martinsville Speedway Sunday to kick off the Round of 8 at the playoffs with just three races left before the title race in Homestead.
At 0.526 mph, Martinsville is the shortest track on the Cup circuit. Due to its size and form — 55-foot width, 588-foot turns (12 degrees of banks ) and horizontal 800-foot straightaways — race cars rarely reach 100 mph. The monitor is unlike any other on the program and the ones that have been successful at the monitor will be piling up some impressive numbers.
Here’s a rundown of the past three races. Brad Keselowski overtook Kyle Busch with 43 laps remaining to win earlier this season. Jimmie Johnson won the autumn Cup race a year ago because of his victory in the Virginia track. Kyle Busch led 352 laps at the 2016 spring race for his first Cup win at the Paperclip, capping a short run run that also contained a victory at the Camping World Truck Series race on Saturday.
