Kosovo’s brassy director Bernard Challandes says that his group isn’t frightened of enjoying an England side he refers to as the»best in world football».
The 68-year-old Swiss coach delivered a press conference to consider on Sunday because he described his»crazy pressing» style of drama that’s witnessed Kosovo create an unbeaten start in their European qualifying effort.
There was no repeat of Sunday’s moments when he addressed the media but Challandes insisted that he is aware of the scale of the challenge facing Kosovo, who have been a recognized footballing state for three decades.
«We’re Kosovo and we’re here against one of the best teams in the Earth, in my estimation the very best team on the planet,» he told reporters ahead of Tuesday night’s struggle in Southampton.
«I think it is in my philosophy that when we do not dream it is unnecessary to play these gameswe ought to dream and do all that can be done to upset England.
«I will see tomorrow because with Kosovo we are a young federation, never have we played with such an opponent.
«For me as a coach it’s not simple to have a good mix for the test of the game.
«When I say’we come to triumph’, I think a great deal of people think that is pretentious; should I state’it isn’t possible to win against England’,» I have to change my job.
«Never did we believe after four games we play for the very first place here in England.
«It’s obvious for me it is going to be a very, very hard game but it’s a chance for our very young team to demonstrate what’s a very, very high level.»
Challandes surrendered Kosovo will come up from some leading players when they line up against England at St Mary’s but says he doesn’t mean to attempt to defend.
Asked about the shape of both Harry Kane — that hit a hat-trick at England’s triumph over Bulgaria on Saturday — Challandes said:»Harry Kane and (Raheem) Sterling and (Marcus) Rashford and, and, and, and, and…!
«For me personally it is a wonderful group but I have only this way in my head — I do not want to convey to my team,’OK, we remain in our half and defend, defend, defend’ — I hope we can perform and be an opponent, not a huge competitor however an opponent with strength.»
