New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees left Sunday’s loss at the Los Angeles Rams in the first quarter with a thumb injury and didn’t return.
«Right off when he attempted to throw, he also was having trouble with it. It was not anything fancy,» coach Sean Payton said in his post-game media conference.

Payton said Brees did not have X-rays in halftime but suggested it would take a couple of days before the team has an update of testing.
Teddy Bridgewater entered 3:29 remaining in the initial quarter. He went 17 of 30 for 165 yards as the Saints dropped 27-9.
Before leaving, brees started the match three to five five for 38 yards and an interception.
He came from the locker room after halftime with all the tape from his hands and having a helmet , but did not enter and then was retaped.
Even the 40-year-old has missed one game due to injury since joining the Saints in 2006, which came in 2015.
He has missed just two other competitions of a 210 with the Saintswhile resting in Week 17 together with the group’s playoff position protected.
The Rams will seek a third consecutive win when they travel to Cleveland (0-1) on Sunday night (1.20’m ) and Week Four will see these host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at the LA Coliseum (9.05pm).
New Orleans, with or without Brees, travel to Seattle (2-0) next Sunday (9.25pm) as they seem to go back to winning ways then in Week Four host the Dallas Cowboys at a blockbuster-looking Sunday Night Football (1.20am).
